Today, I want to share my incredible experience staying at Riad Karmela in Marrakesh, Morocco. (Linked here) This hidden gem tucked away in the heart of the old medina (medina = town) will transport you to a magical world.
As soon as I entered Riad Karmela, I was captivated by its blend of traditional Moroccan architecture and modern comforts. The serene courtyards, lush greenery, and beautiful tiled walls created an oasis amidst the bustling city. The staff welcomed my friends and I with mint tea, a local tradition, also known as Berber Whiskey (because it’s quite addictive and they drink ALL the time), and some delicious cookies. .
The rooms at Riad Karmela are a true reflection of Moroccan charm. Each one is uniquely designed, with vibrant colors, handcrafted furniture, and plenty of space.
Riad Karmela's central location made it perfect for exploring Marrakesh. Just a 10 minute walk away, We found ourselves wandering through vibrant souks, haggling with friendly shopkeepers for unique souvenirs and spices. The staff provided invaluable recommendations, ensuring we didn't miss any hidden gems. They were also beyond helpful when it came to scheduling tuktuk’s (small, golf cart-like vehicles that fit in the small city streets where cars can’t go) to ensure we could get anywhere we needed to with ease.
Now, let's talk about breakfast. Riad Karmela serves a traditional Moroccan breakfast for an additional $5 a day. The wide variety of food from fresh fruits and veggies to a delicious omelette and plenty of bread and pastries, made it a no-brainer to eat our breakfast there every day. Not to mention that breakfast was served on the gorgeous rooftop of the riad.
Riad Karmela exceeded our expectations, offering an authentic Moroccan experience. From the warm hospitality to the exquisite design, every aspect of our stay was flawless. Whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a tranquil escape, this riad is the perfect haven.
